What a couple of weeks!! First bali then non stop in Thailand.
Bali was Fantastic!! A full 10 days to hang out with the family before my world trip. It started out in style in the Qantas first lounge. But because Jetstar checkin only opens 2 hrs before departure I couldn’t use it to it’s full potential. I ordered cocktails and entrees off the menu, which was 5 star. The service was fantastic!! I had a minute steak, some salt and pepper squid and sashimi topped off with a couple of cocktails, a 15yo scotch of some type and a scotch and dry. The first lounge was amazing!
The flight wasn’t bad, I just read and had a nap. Guz was awesome enough to pick me up from the airport and take me to the Tune hotel. It was smaller than my donga at work but it had aircon, a shower and a bed. Well worth the $15!!
Over the course of the next 10 days we had a numerous amount of amazing food, drinks and good times throughout Kuta. We drank beers on the beach watching the sunset, had a few nights out at the bars, ate at nice restaurants, haggled our way through the markets in Legian and Kuta, Took amazing photos, swam in the pool, rooftop pool and ocean and lazed by the pool sipping cocktails while “watching” Jay play and splash in the pool… “watch this Nanna/Uncle Shaun/Mum/Pop”.
The most memorable was our day trip to Nusa Lembongan. After being picked up from the hotel we sat on a very large catamaran for an hour and made our way North East towards the Island. In the harbor the boat parked up next to a watersports pontoon, which we played on all day. Dad didn’t get into the water because he wasn’t feeling the best and I only swam around until lunch (another Buffet). Mum and Amy had fun on the waterslide and Jay sat on the banana boat. The tour on the island was fun and Dad and I took some cool pics. They have a Flatscreen in the town temple…
Bali was great as always. It was sad to see the family for the last time, and it didn’t sink in until I was in the car on the way to the airport. While saying goodbye to Jay, he turned and walked away knowing he wasn’t going to see me for a long time. This didn’t help.
The plain trip to Bangkok was exciting. Being in a new country for the first time is always fun. The airport is large and nice inside; spacious, airconned, clean and organized. Stepping out of the airport was something different.
