That has never happened to me before. They Europeans thought it was the best thing since sliced bread!! haha
Late in 2010 when work only gave me around 4 days off at a time, I would relax in Beautiful Margaret River for my breaks. I'd hire the car, shoot down south for about 3 hours to the backpackers on the beach in Margaret River and chill out for a few days. One afternoon on the way back from town we drove through the bottle shop. It was the first time Gianluca the Italian guy and Caro an Austrian chick had been through a drive through bottle shop!! I was honoured to be the first person to open their eyes to Australia's best invention!! Gianluca and I were looking for a cheap slab of beer and there was a south american lighter style on special. Having a laugh with the bloke serving us I asked if I could buy a single stubbie to taste... maybe it was on special for a reason. You can have it he said as we all took a sip. We then agreed it was a good deal so we bought the slab.

Not long now... only 62 days till the MotoGP season starts and 165 days until Takeoff!! Today on the 5 hour flight to work i started the book "Leaving Microsoft to change the world" by John Wood. It has some great points on business, leaving the Rat Race to travel and working to better the world, not better a company's profit. One line which stood out was Livin La Vida Loca or "Livin' the Crazy Life"... I want to feel that again!!
Today the Aussies trampled India in the 4th Test at the Adelaide Oval, there is still 2 days to go, Triple J had their yearly Hottest 100 countdown, It was 40 degrees today in Perth, Cyclone Iggy is on it's way over to Karratha, QLD and northern NSW is experiencing another flood, Maria Sharapova made her way into the final at the Australia Open in Melbourne and I worked a 12 hour day in 40 degree heat. Happy Australia Day 2012!!
Audrey and I enjoying the beautiful summer weather on the Mornington Peninsula.
I work in Western Australia with a roster of 8 days on and 6 days off. This gives me 5 full days to enjoy my "weekend" or break... Audrey and I try to go for a good hour or 2 ride each break. HA!! While waiting for my bus at the airport i set up my couchsurfing account. As it is with any new site, there is so much info to be entered, i think i'll fill it out bit by bit over the next few months.
I hope i can find somewhere to stay while the Brno MotoGP is on... or maybe i'd be better off staying at a hostel so i make friends to go to the track with???? Life's decisions are hard!! haha Spinning the Globe has been my dream ever since i was a kid, I've always wanted to travel to the places in the movies & where people had described in stories... I just wanted to go!!
When i was younger i wanted to spin the globe, stop it with my finger and start my journey there. Now since money is a factor, i'm starting close to home and working my way around. :) From the jungles in Indiana Jones to Surfing and Skydiving like Keanu in Point Break, watching Casey Stoner win a Moto GP in Europe and drinking $1 Coronas on the beach at sunset in Mexico coast after a day of surfing, I just had to go and check it out for myself. After an earlier attempt at saving enough cash to go, i put my head down over the last year and a half, and did whatever it took to save enough money to just go. For over 12 months i was flying over 5000km's a week to work in a remote part of Australia. The temperatures reached well over 40 degrees most days in summer and after working 12 hour days, the last thing I felt like doing was exercise. My "Fly out day" is July 20 2012 where i spend just over a week in Bali to begin my world trip. As of today 18 Jan 2012 there is 185 days to go!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!
